Chapter One :Chapter 1

I was reborn.

Back to the time before Fiona Scott started leeching my luck.

In my last life, I failed the college entrance exams, my health was a mess, my family fell apart, and I ended up dying alone in a damp little rental apartment. I died with so many questions.

How did a pampered girl like me end up in such a tragic mess?

But after I came back, I finally got it.

Fiona had some kind of luck-stealing system.

She didn't just "borrow" stuff — she was stealing my life.

A pen, a shirt, even a handkerchief — tiny things like that.

Every time she “borrowed” something, she’d glow like she won the lottery, and her life just kept getting better.

And me? I’d get hit with bad luck outta nowhere. My health tanked, I couldn’t catch a break — everything just went wrong.

She wasn’t taking stuff. She was robbing me of my fate.

——

Doorbell rang.

Mom opened it. Guess who it was?

Fiona, of course.

She stood there in a set of washed-out old clothes, looking paper-thin, like a wind could blow her away. She kept her eyes down, voice trembling.

"Auntie... I’m Fiona. I’m here in the city for the college entrance exams… Can I crash here for a few days? I’ll leave right after the exams, I promise…”

Her voice was soft, like she might cry. Eyes all red, playing the pitiful waif to the hilt.

My mom's heart’s always been mushy — the moment she saw her, she pulled her inside like some long-lost daughter, fussing over her right away.

I leaned on the stairs, arms crossed, and just stared.

Watched her sneak glances at our fancy living room with those so-called innocent eyes of hers — full of greed and envy.

“She’s been through a lot. Let her stay for now,” Mom said, patting Fiona’s hand.

Fiona immediately wiped her tear-streaked face, looking all grateful. If acting was an Olympic sport, she’d take gold without breaking a sweat.

I sneered.

Pitiful?

She wasn’t looking too pitiful when she was grinding me into the dirt last time.

Our family’s a big deal around here.

My dad runs a pretty successful textile company, one of the top taxpayers in town.

Mom’s side got this long-running herbal business going back generations, with a couple rare recipes that make serious money.

We live in a three-story garden house downtown — impossible to ignore.

And as their only kid, I was the apple of everyone’s eye — spoiled, loved, protected.

But in my last life, Fiona wrecked all of it.

Dad sold everything he had trying to cure me. Mom lost her leg because of the stolen luck, and in desperation, even sold blood to keep me alive.

My bad luck just infected the whole family.

Even my grandparents got dragged down — they died in a car crash while trying to protect me.

What was once a happy family turned into a tragedy, with just me left, rotting away in some dingy room.

And even then, at the end, she showed up just to mock me.

Thinking of all the crap I went through last time, kick her out now?

That’s way too easy.

I want to watch her suffer slowly — burn, crumble… all of it.
